What happens in one round — understand the rules in plain language

Andar Bahar is essentially a single-dealer game played with a 52-card deck. At the start of a round the dealer turns one card face up from the deck — this card is called the "Joker" or "Trump card". Cards are then dealt to two sides of the table: the left side is "Andar" (inside) and the right side is "Bahar" (outside).

The player's task is to predict which side will first receive a card of the same rank as the Joker (for example a 7, a Jack or a King). If you bet on Andar, dealing starts from that side; if you bet on Bahar, it starts from the opposite side. Whichever side the matching card falls on first wins the bet.

The entire process takes anywhere from a few seconds to about a minute. Because dealing is relatively fast, several rounds can be played in a row. This simplicity is what makes the game appealing to newcomers.

At baji Casino, a professional dealer runs each round of the Live Andar Bahar table and everything can be seen on camera in real time.

Scoring and Payout Structure — how much you receive when you win

Andar Bahar has no hand rankings — there is no need to form card combinations as in Poker or Teen Patti. The only condition for winning is choosing the correct side. There is, however, a slight difference in payouts.

Bet Type Standard Payout Special Condition
Andar (first card is dealt here) 1:0.9 (10% house commission) If a match occurs on the very first card
Bahar (second card is dealt here) 1:1 (full amount returned) 1.5x payout if a match occurs on the very first card
Side Bet — how many cards it takes to match Varied odds (1:2 up to 1:120) Optional; may not be available on all tables

Note that although side bets offer higher payouts, the odds of winning are lower. Beginners will find it easier to focus on the main Andar or Bahar bet.

Against the dealer or against other players — which is true

baji Live Dealer Andar Bahar Gameplay

Andar Bahar is entirely a dealer-versus-player game. Other players at the table are not your opponents — each person places their own bets independently and everyone plays against the dealer. This means one player winning does not necessarily mean another loses.

This feature makes the game less stressful. Many online players in Dhaka say they enjoy Andar Bahar precisely because there is no pressure of direct competition with other players.

In the Live Dealer version the camera shows the deck being shuffled and cards being dealt, which ensures transparency. baji's live tables also have a chat feature where brief conversation with the dealer is possible.

For those moving away from slot games and wanting the feel of facing a real person, Live Andar Bahar is a good option.

Practical tips for beginners — start on the right foot

Even though the rules are simple, keeping a few practical points in mind will make the experience more structured.

  • Start with small bets. Play the first few rounds just to understand the rhythm of the game — get a feel for the table pace before moving to higher stakes.
  • Avoid side bets at first. Once you are comfortable with the main bet you can try side bets; they can be confusing at the start.
  • Stick to your budget. Set a fixed amount before you start and end your session when it runs out. Avoid making extra deposits to recover losses.
  • Check the statistics, but do not rely on them blindly. Many tables show the results of previous rounds. This gives you information, but each round is independent.
  • Keep your internet connection stable. In live games a disconnection may not cancel your bet — so play on a reliable network.
  • Follow responsible gaming principles. The Responsible Gaming page has self-check tools and advice on setting limits.

Quick reminder

Both Andar and Bahar have nearly the same chance of winning (close to 50/50). A run of losses on one side does not guarantee a win on the next. Each round starts fresh.

Table Etiquette and Session Management — habits of a smart player

Table Etiquette

Keeping to certain standards even at an online live table improves the quality of play. It is best not to comment in the chat box on other players' decisions — everyone bets according to their own judgement. Be polite to the dealer; live chat is for social interaction, not argument.

Make your decision quickly while the betting timer is running — it is better not to bet late, because once the timer ends you lose the chance to participate in that round.

Session Management

Before each session, decide on your budget for the day and how long you will play. Take a break when either limit is reached. Long uninterrupted sessions reduce concentration and increase the chance of poor decisions.

Even when on a winning run, keep a clear head — stopping once you reach your target is a habit that pays off over time. Trying to recover losses by raising your stakes is not a sound approach.

Your betting history and deposit and withdrawal records are available in the baji account dashboard, which is useful for reviewing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions about Andar Bahar

At the start of a round the dealer turns one card face up from the deck — this is the Joker or Trump card. The dealer then places cards alternately on the Andar and Bahar sides. Whichever side first receives a card of the same rank as the Joker (for example a 5 or a King) wins. The suit or colour of the cards is not considered.

The two sides are nearly equal in probability. However, because Andar is dealt to first, its winning probability is slightly higher (around 51.5%). For this reason many casinos take a 10% commission when Andar wins. Bahar typically pays out at 1:1 and in certain cases 1.5x. Neither side guarantees a win.

In theory, a 52-card deck contains three remaining cards of the same rank as the Joker. There is no fixed maximum number of deals, but the round ends as soon as a matching card appears. Most rounds finish within 10–20 cards.

The Classic version offers only two betting options: Andar or Bahar. The Side Bet version lets you place optional bets alongside your main bet — for example, on how many cards it will take to find a match (1–5 cards, 6–10 cards, etc.) or what suit or colour the Joker card will be. Side bets offer higher payouts but lower odds of winning. Beginners are better off starting with the Classic version.

In the Live version you can see a real dealer on camera, with cards physically shuffled and dealt. It feels more realistic and allows chat interaction. In the RNG version everything is determined by software — it runs faster and stays playable even on a slow internet connection. Choose Live if you want a social feel; RNG is better for quick gameplay.

All three are card-based games popular in South and Southeast Asia, but their structures differ. Teen Patti involves hand rankings and bluffing; Baccarat compares points between the Player and Banker sides. Andar Bahar has no hand rankings — you simply predict which of the two sides will receive a card matching the Joker first. It is the simplest of the three.
